At first, I didn't get it (embarrassing disclosure: I fell asleep during my first time watching Akira). But now I've come around, and think of anime the same way as I think of books, movies, etc. : There's some stuff I really, really, like and some stuff I don't :) There's lots of anime-Japanese sites; this one's just trying to do something a little different.
